1. Beyond Fairy Tales by Shalini and Deepika
Book Cover: Beyond Fairy Tales
The world moved forward but the fairy tales are still centuries old hence the themes needed to be revisited.
Beyond Fairy Tales
We all grew up listening to fairy tales. Who has not heard the stories of Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, or Snow White? But have we ever thought deeply about their origin or if the morals of these fairy tales still valid in current times?
The book ‘Beyond Fairy Tales’ is a work of art by authors Deepika, an educationist and an acclaimed featured writer for Times of India, and Shalini, who has a master’s in business administration. This book showcases their thorough analysis and interpretation of centuries-old fairy tales and why the theme of some tales need to be revisited and revamped.
This book covers almost all the popular fairy tales. Apart from narrating each tale including lesser-known facts, stories, and morals, the authors have also given their verdict - whether a particular tale is worthwhile on the basis of its morals. Deepika’s narration style is good enough to keep you glued as the layers of these tales unfold. Shalini’s poetic version of each tale adds an interesting flavour to each chapter.
I think this book is apt for all age groups. This is a must-read book to feed your curiosity about the background and some untold facts of centuries-old fairy tales. Kudos to the duo for their extensive research before presenting the facts about each fairy tale.
The book Beyond fairy tales will not only introduce you to some lesser-known facts about centuries-old fairy tales but also gives you a new perspective to think about them and their morals.
