Take Care of the Earth

Take care of the earth and she will take care of you.

Yes, everyone knows that but how many of us really care? Humans are the most powerful creature on this planet. But are we humans using our powers responsibly? We are indeed living in a modern world where technology is taking over everything. We can measure the environment pollution level by latest technology but only some people are actually volunteering to save the environment.

No matter, what the reasons are but we are actually hurting the earth whether to satiate our greed or by ignorance. We are cutting down trees and polluting rivers without thinking twice. We always think that someone else will plant trees and save the Earth. But the bitter truth is that earth is suffering because of this mindset and our negligence. We must remember that taking care of the Earth is not just a responsibility, it’s a necessity.

We have to stop exploiting our planet. We took enough from Mother Nature and now it’s time to give her back and take care of her. On the occasion of Earth Day, I have written this Hindi poem about how beautiful our earth is and how she is really counting on us to remain beautiful.

धरती का कर्ज़

चारों तरफ़ फैली हरियाली और नीला आसमान,
ख़ूबसूरत वादियों को देखकर ख़ुश होता है हर इंसान।
दिल को सुकून देती है झरनों से आने वाली आवाज़,
चिड़ियों की चहचहाहट करती है सुबह का सुंदर आग़ाज़।

ना जाने कितनी ख़ूबसूरत इमारतों का घर है ये धरती,
ना जाने कितने प्राणियों का पालन-पोषण ये करती।
अनगिनत पेड़-पौधों और जीव-जन्तुओं से भरी है ये,
नदी, समंदर, पहाड़ और वादियों से सजी संवरी है ये।

दे दिया इसने हम इंसानों को दर्जा सबसे बड़ा,
कह दिया कि ना हो पाएगा कोई तुम्हारे सामने खड़ा।
बस फिर क्या, मिल गए जैसे पंख से हम इन्सानों को,
ऐसा लगा मिल गया कोई मुफ़्त ख़ज़ाना उड़ाने को।

आसमान की नीलिमा धीरे-धीरे होने लगी है धूमिल,
नदियाँ भी होने लगी हैं प्लास्टिक और कचरे से बोझिल।
ना जाने कितने पेड़ काट कर ऊँची इमारतें बनायीं,
और धरती की सुंदरता यूँ ही आधुनिकतावाद की धुन में गवायी।

अंधे हो गए हैं हम अपने निजी स्वार्थ में इस क़दर,
काट जंगलों को हमने कर दिया जानवरों को दर-बदर।
अब तो समंदर को भी साँस लेने में मुश्किल होती है,
रुकते नहीं हम तब भी, जब धरती हमें बार बार चेतावनी देती है।

कहते है की माँ की तरह हमारा ध्यान रखती है ये धरती,
इसलिये ना जाने कितनी ग़लतियाँ हमारी ये माफ़ करती।
अपनी इस अनमोल धरती की रक्षा करना हमारा फ़र्ज़ है,
चलो एक साथ मिलकर उतारते हैं ये जो धरती का कर्ज़ है।

Plant trees, save water make our planet beautiful as there is no other planet like earth, where a human being can survive. Don’t forget, we humans do not have any other backup plan ( at least not yet) if we lose our Earth. Happy Earth Day!
